AFAR WINS FOUR LOWELL THOMAS TRAVEL JOURNALISM AWARDS

Prestigious Honor from the Society of American Travel Writers Foundation.

San Francisco, CA…November 10, 2011 For the second year running, AFAR has been honored by the Society of American Travel Writers Foundation—this time with four awards.

In addition to taking home the Silver in the Travel Magazine category, AFAR received a Gold and a Silver for Photo Illustration of Travel, as well as a Bronze in Environmental Tourism for a story by Gregory Dicum, “Peru’s Lovely Bones”, which ran in the July/August 2010 issue. Several AFAR contributors, including Andrew McCarthy, Don George, Andy Isaacson, Edward Readicker-Henderson, and Wayne Curtis were awarded in a variety of categories.

“We are thrilled to have been recognized by the SATW for the second year in a row,” says AFAR Editor in Chief Julia Cosgrove. “It is testament to the relevancy of experiential travel, and it’s a terrific honor to be in such esteemed company.”
