Award-winning magazine devoted to experiential travel featured on
Martha Stewart’s national TV show on February 19
NEW YORK, NY (February 16, 2010) — Afar, the only magazine devoted exclusively to experiential travel, will be featured as a Martha Stewart “find” on The Martha Stewart Show, Friday, February 19 on WNBC Channel 4 at 11am EST.
Joe Diaz, co-founder of Afar, was among experts in the field of travel, culture and the environment who appeared on Martha’s specially-themed “Travel Show.” Others included: The Orchid Thief author Susan Orlean; Alexandra Cousteau, environmentalist and granddaughter of world famous French explorer and filmmaker Jacques-Yves Cousteau; and Brad John, co-founder of the hip boutique travel store Flight 001.
Audience members were treated to a free subscription of Afar and anyone who views The Martha Stewart Show within a week of the airing will receive a 20% percent discount on a yearly subscription to the new award-winning travel magazine. Afar’s mission is to inspire and guide those who travel the world seeking to connect with its people, experience their culture, and understand their perspectives. It is published by AFAR Media, a multi-platform brand focused on experiential travel that helps people experience every destination as local residents do. Orlean, also an Afar contributor, will “Spin the Globe,” in the magazine’s May/June issue. For “Spin the Globe,” Afar’s staff chooses a destination at random—by literally spinning a globe—and sends a writer on a spontaneous journey. In the March/April issue, on newsstands now, Afar sent writer and actor Andrew McCarthy to Ethiopia with some interesting results.
